LSHTM offers MOOC on Eliminating Trachoma: Starts Oct. 3

The International Centre for Eye Health, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) has partnered with Future Learn to offer a Free Online course on Eliminating Trachoma.

This course was developed by the International Centre for Eye Health, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in partnership with Future Learn. Technical input on the MOOC has been provided by Anthony Solomon, Medical Officer for Trachoma at the World Health Organization. The course development was supported by The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, Sight savers and International Coalition for Trachoma Control. 

Registration is open to anyone. The course begins: October 3rd, 2016

Course aims:

  • Inform and support the personnel implementing and managing trachoma programs at a district and community level
  • Provide insights from stakeholders, experts and professionals as they share successes and resolve challenges to achieve elimination of trachoma

Throughout the 5 week course we use a variety of learning tools and provide opportunities to interact and learn through conversations with peers, educators and experts from across the world. Course examines:

  • Mapping trachoma to identify the affected communities
  • Implementing trachoma prevention and treatment: SAFE strategies at the community level
  • How to validate and certify successful trachoma elimination
