Seminar on NTDs at the School of Medicine of Cotonou

On April 11, 2013 the School of Medicine of Cotonoua held a seminar on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) The aim of this seminar was to introduce RTI/ENVISION to people at the most important medical school in the country, and to encourage future doctors to join the fights against NTDS. Around 250 students, interns, physicians and professors at the faculty attended the seminar. WHO was represented by Dr. Raoul Saizonou, the NTD focal point and Mr. François Agossou, the communications representative. The Beninese music artist Sessime was also present. Speakers included Dr. Bacho, who talked about the NTD situation in Benin, Dr. Sissinto, lead researcher and assistant professor in infectious diseases, who presented strategies for NTD prevention;  and Dr. Kisito Ogoussan, a Beninese stakeholder, who presented a Mectizan Donation Program documentary about achievements of the fight against LF and onchocerciasis.  Dr. Jean Jacques Tougoue presented the ENVISION Project in Benin and how the country’s physicians and future doctors could contribute to the success of the project.
